Rising British star Aaron Taylor-Johnson has secured a role in Avengers Assemble sequel Avengers: Age of Ultron, according to The Wrap, starring as Pietro Maximoff aka Quicksilver, a mutant with superhuman speed who just so happens to be the son of human-hating tyrant and X-Men opponent Magneto.
Taylor-Johnson no stranger to playing a
superhero hero comic book character, having portrayed Kick-Ass in the film of the same name and this year’s sequel, which means he’ll be familiar with tight spandex.
X-Men has always been a franchise of its own while Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and Avengers all tie into one, but all of the aforementioned brands are, of course, Marvel properties.
Given that, it will be interesting to see how Quicksilver’s character slots into the plot alongside sister Wanda aka Scarlet Witch, who will be played by Elizabeth Olsen.
For an added bit of trivia, both Taylor-Johnson and Olsen have been working on Godzilla together.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is due for release on May 1st 2015.
Official synopsis: The Avengers reassemble to battle a sentient robot who has become one of humankind’s biggest threats since breaking free from its creator, Dr. Hank Pym.
