Iron Man 3, which I’ve reviewed here, hit UK cinemas on Thursday, 25th April, and the tin hero has clearly got British moviegoers excited, with the film pulling in £13.7m since opening – £11.4m over the weekend – to top the UK box office. The superhero flick is now the biggest 2013 opening of the year, outstripping Les Miserables, while also outshining the opening weekends of Iron Man (£4.8m) and Iron Man 2 (£6.8m).
It doesn’t end there. When observed on an international scale, Iron Man 3 has pulled in $195.3m, thus beating the $185.1m opening weekend of Avengers Assemble.
Iron Man 3 is still yet to be released in the US and China, while the UK results were the highest of the 42 markets the film is currently available in.
Thor: The Dark World is the next of the Avengers films to be released, and it will hit the UK on October 30th.
